What’s In Style This Winter
I have to admit I like Winter when it comes to the style. Boots, jeans, blazers coats, knits … it’s what I love to wear. I don’t love the cold but it’s an excuse to layer up and rug up.
This Winter we’re seeing the usual nudes and neutrals which (like florals in Spring) always come back in stores and online but there are the seasonal pieces too.
Pops of colour
Think really bold colours like green, blue, pink and purple. Suits in these colours in which you can wear it as a set or mix and match, wearing just the pants one day and the blazer with jeans or over a dress another time.
Knits and jumpers
There are also some bright coloured knits around too in amongst the significant supply of jumpers.
You’ll see jumpers with zips, light weight knits, chunky ones with high necks, cable knits and ones with pom poms. There are cropped jumpers like I’m wearing in the pic below, cropped cardigans you can wear buttoned up and open as well as longer line ones that are the perfect layering piece.
Shackets
There has been a surge of shackets. If you don’t know, a shacket is between a shirt and jacket. It’s usually casual and a relaxed fit and I’ve seen them in neutrals, black and the one I’ve seen most of is plaid. I’m not talking about the farmer plaid shirt but a much more stylish and elevated version of it with bigger checks and a range of colours from green to neutral tones and black and white.
Coats and jackets
Faux fur is everywhere. Cropped style, knee length, different textures - there are so many fun and cool styles out there and most importantly warm. Aviator jackets are also around in cropped length and also ones that come to the mid hip.
As always, layering is key in Winter and coats always spring up. I’ve seen the usual tan and black ones as well as some checks and brighter colours too, especially green.
Sleeves
Statement sleeves add a little something extra to a knit or shirt. There are big puffy sleeves and also shirred styles with cuffs and button detail.
Wider leg
Skinny jeans and pants are taking a back seat this Winter with a more relaxed fit the go. Straight leg, wide leg and high waisted, full length and cropped. On the topic of pants, the wet look/leather look or leather pants are also making a reappearance. It’s such a fun, edgy look and can be dressed up and down.
Boots
Knee high is back which I haven’t seen come back with such prominence for a few seasons. There’s always still room for ankle boots and the chunky military style boot is also sticking around. Keep an eye out for some bold coloured boots too.
I’m liking the variety this Winter and hope you find some really nice pieces to keep you warm and make you feel good.
