What’s on trend for Summer
Summer is coming and this is your guide to everything that’s on trend for the warmer months and holiday season. Not only that, there are pieces on this list you can wear for years to come which is my styling mantra. Buy well, shop smart and wear on repeat. Getting dressed should be easy every day.
Matching sets
This one is a continuation from Spring but there are just more and more styles being added to shelves and online. Skirts (mini and maxi) and tops, shorts, vests and pant suits – so much matching and I am really liking this trend.
What I love about it is you can separate the sets and it gives you extra outfit options. Wear the skirt with a different tee or the top with some denim and you have more things to wear.
These matching sets can be solid colours or patterns and prints which I am seeing a lot of right now – think geometric patterns. It can be fun to do something a little different and branch out with a pattern. If you’ve been thinking about it, now would be the time to go for it.
Long shorts
These are the ones that finish a little above the knee. They’re relaxed but can be dressed up and worn to work with a shirt or, tuck in a tank, put on some sneakers and you have a comfy and casual weekend look.
Watch out with the length of the shorts though because if you don’t have legs for days, there’s a risk they can make you look shorter or not be overly flattering. It’s a great example of trends not working for everyone, so just because it’s in fashion, doesn’t mean you have to or should be wearing it.
Halter
I feel like now I need to say ‘back in my day’ because I used to wear halters and now they are back. You’ll find halter tops and dresses in this style. I actually love it. It’s flattering and works for women with all bust sizes. Even if it wasn’t on trend, I would still wear it.
Colours
There’s lots of colour around which isn’t surprising considering Spring has been about bold colours and florals and more is added to the mix with the weather warming up. I’ve seen a lot of peach as well as bright pink which is very out there but can be pared back if you add denim shorts or a black skirt.
There’s also emerald green and all the blues – light, navy and sapphire. I’ve also seen a lot of black white and other neutrals.
Cut outs
Another trend that’s been lingering but has morphed into different variations. We had all the cut out dresses and while they’re still around, we have cut out tops emerging a little too.
Linen
Not really a trend but worth a mention because I’m definitely seeing some great linen pieces right now. Linen is so good because it’s light and breathable and a quality material. The only downside is as soon as you sit down and get back up again, it’ll look like it needs an iron but that’s not a deal breaker for me.
So there you have it. I hope this serves as a good guide and if you are overwhelmed by the choice or just don’t like shopping, but need a wardrobe update, please get in touch. Here is some info about the personal shopping session I offer or if your wardrobe needs a detox but you don’t know where to start, I’ve got some info here for you.
Have a great Summer!
