What’s on Trend in Autumn
So here we are, a month or so into Autumn and there’s been no time wasted bringing out the cooler weather clothing. I’ve had a walk around the shops and browsed online and there are some styles and colours I’m loving.
Before we jump into what’s on trend, here’s my little reminder about on trend pieces. They’re here for one or two seasons and that’ll usually be it. Because you won’t get as much wear out of them compared to wardrobe staples like black pants or a white shirt, don’t spend too much on them.
Being on trend, you’ll find the same or similar things in so many stores – bricks and mortar and online – so you can afford to shop around and get something cheaper.
So onto those trends.
Colours
I’m seeing emerald green and some royal or cobalt blue and a bold, dark pink. I’ve even seen a bit of mustard around which is a good option if you want to add some colour but maybe not go as bold as a brighter blue for example.
Neutrals are a big feature for Autumn too, which probably isn’t a surprise but I am loving the tones from tan to camel, beige and my favourite chocolate brown which I am seeing everywhere and am so on board with.
Pants
Unfortunately low rise will be around but I can categorically say this needs to hurry up and go away. There are still plenty of mid or high waisted styles around and thankfully wider leg jeans and pants are staying put as are cargo pants which have been so popular the last few months. There are so many varieties from cargo jeans to pants and even satin cargos.
Skirts
We’ll see a lot more maxi and midi skirts which can be worn with stockings and boots for extra warmth. I’ve seen a few satin skirts which are so great for dressing up and down.
Jackets/Coats
The bomber is making a comeback. I love a bomber for its edgy vibe and you can throw it on with jeans and a top or a dress. You can even take it up a notch with a leather option.
A trench is such a perfect Autumn staple and I’ve seen some really nice ones around already. I love a tan one as it’s just so chic and classic and classy and goes with pretty much everything. Invest is one and you’ll keep it for years.
Sheer
Skin baring cut outs are making way for a different way to flash the flesh and that is sheer material. Think dresses and tops but they look just as great with a slip or singlet underneath. I’d describe this trend as fun and flirty.
So there’s the list.
But, if you don’t like a trend, then move right along and stick to the styles you love. Don’t wear something because you should. You won’t feel yourself or get the boost in confidence a killer outfit should give you.
