Your Guide to Which Stores Stock Which Sizes
There is no industry standard for sizing and that makes shopping much harder than it needs to be. You can be one size in one store and something different in another store. Throw in online shopping and figuring out what size to buy is too labour intensive.
Stores, brands and labels are doing a lot better when it comes to size diversity offering smaller and bigger sizes.
So, fed up with the current state of shopping and hearing so many stories from styling clients about their sizing woes, I've put together this guide on what stores stock which sizes. I've included big name bricks and mortar stores, large online stores and smaller ones.
I obviously couldn't include every store but I hope this guide helps. Here they are in no particular order.
Fayt the Label
There are sizes available from 6-24. This label makes a point of inclusivity on it's website.
"All our pieces are designed with bodies of all shapes and sizes in mind. We get that denim needs stretch, tops with a bust cup need depth, shirts need extra length and quality material matters."
Portmans
The size range is from 6 to 18 and knits go from an XS to XXL. There's a curve range going from a 16 to 24 and a petite range for those who are vertically challenged.
Forever New
A curve range is also available here going from a 16 to 22. There are also sizes 4 to 16 or extra extra small to a large available.
Witchery
There's a really good size range on both ends of the spectrum going from a 4 to a 20. Some XXS and XS as well as XXL and XXXL are only available in store.
Seed
A store that can do better in my opinion. While I love what Seed offers in terms of wardrobe staples with frequent new arrivals that are of a high quality and last a while, their size range is only from a 6 to 16 in pants and tops. It goes down to a 4 for dresses, other pants, shirts and coats. Knits go from an XXS to an XL. You might also find some XXXS pieces.
Decjuba
You can get some great jeans here and I really like their blazers and coats too. The size range is from 6 to 18 but some jeans go down to a 4 online. In some instances too, the bigger sizes are also only available online.
Commonry
You won't find any really small sizes here but there's still a great range from a 8 to 22 with plans to extend it.
"We don't have every size - for now. We're committed to fitting this range right now, staying in our lane and building from there."
Bohemian Traders
Such a good size range from 2XS to 4XL.
Zara
Zara does the minimum. Tops and knitwear range from an XS to L, jackets from an XS to XL and blazers and jackets from an XS to XXL. When it comes to jeans they go from a 32 which is a 4 to a 44 or 16.
Jacqui E
Another curve range is available which takes the size range from 6 to 24 or XS to XXL.
Harlow
Sizing starts at 12 and goes up to 26.
It offers limited edition pieces and smaller collections and is Australian made.
Spell
Available in Byron Bay and online, you can buy pieces in an XXS all the way to 3XL.
The Iconic
Quite possibly Australia's largest online store (over 1500 brands) so I took a deep dive to find out which labels offer big and small sizes.
If you need a size 4, Dazie, Shona Joy, Tussah, TopShop, Aere, Auguste The Label and Forcast cater for you. Ginger and Smart goes from a 4 to an 18. Obus offers sizes 6 to 20.
When it comes to bigger sizes, there's a lot of choice.
Atmos & Here curvy goes from a 16 to 26. Cotton On curve is from 16 to 28. Sizes 12 to 24 are available from City Chic, Pink Dusk.
Sunday in the City and Something 4 Olivia range from a 10 to 22. Missguided curve offers sizes 16 to 24, and The Poetic Gypsy and Estelle range from 10 to 22.
