What’s On Trend This Winter

We’re well into Winter and I’ve spent the last few weeks checking out what’s available – both in stores and online.

I like to wait a little while after the start of a new season so all that’s left from the previous season is replaced by new season stuff. The trends also settle down so I can now properly fill you in on what’s on offer.

Colour

It sure is a colourful Winter! There’s bright pink and lilac, olive green and emerald green, royal blue and red. I don’t remember seeing so much colour for Winter in a very long time. What’s also great is there are knit dresses and blazers in these colours so you can pair it back if you want with a pair of jeans or black pants or throw a more neutral blazer over that bold dress.

Leather

So. Much. Leather. A lot of it’s vegan leather which is great and a real step in the right direction. There are long coats, blazers, biker style jackets as well as pants – wide leg, skinny and options for different lengths.

Subtle statements

I’m mainly talking about tops and knits with just a hint of detail. Nothing over the top so it can be worn this season but won’t necessarily be off trend the next so can be worn for a few years. Examples include off shoulder or one shoulder or a little cut out. Team them with jeans, leather pants or a midi skirt.

Jackets

Aviator jackets are a big one this Winter. So furry, warm and cosy and they look edgy but still classy. Throw it over your activewear if you’re heading to the park with your kids or out for a quick catch up with friends. It’s perfect to wear with jeans or over a dress.

Midi skirts

A good option for Winter to cover up more and they look great with knee high boots. The dominant style is definitely the denim midi right now and they can be dressed down with sneakers and up with heels or those knee highs. You can also go for a chunky knit or a tank and blazer. I have a feeling this style will be sticking around.

Blazers

While yes blazers are a mainstay all year round, there are a lot of check blazers I’ve been seeing. They have ranged from blue and white to neutrals such as brown and some checks have been bigger and bolder than others so there are options for everyone.

So, these are some of the trends I’ve been seeing around but remember, if you don’t love it, don’t get it just because it’s on trend and you think you should. If you don’t 100% love it and feel great in it, then don’t bother. If you do love something on trend, maybe spend a little less because you might not get as much wear out of it as more staple pieces like jeans, black pants and a white shirt.

And if you think your wardrobe needs a Winter update, then please get in touch. I offer a personal shopping style service where we shop for what you need and will fill your wardrobe with pieces that will make you feel confident, as well as making it easy and stress free to get dressed everyday.
